PrintBatch is a Shopify app that prints invoices, quotes, packing slips, shipping labels and gift receipts from a store's orders. This policy explains what the app stores, what it only reads, and who it is shared with. It is written for the merchant who installs the app; it also covers the customer data that appears on printed documents.
01What the app reads
When a merchant prints a document, the app asks Shopify for the order at that moment: order number, dates, line items, prices, taxes, discounts, shipping method, payment method, order note, customer name, email address and phone number, and the billing and shipping addresses. This information is used to render the document and is then discarded. The app does not keep a copy of orders, customers or addresses.
The app also reads the store's name, email, address and time zone to print them on documents and to answer support requests.
02What the app stores
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Store domain and an API access token | To read orders from the store on the merchant's behalf | Until the app is uninstalled |
| Document settings: template, logo, colour, tax ID, footer text, signature name and image, language and time zone choices | So documents print the way the merchant set them up | Until 48 hours after uninstall, when Shopify sends the redaction request |
| Number of documents printed per calendar month | To apply the plan's monthly allowance | Until 48 hours after uninstall |
| The store's current plan | Cached for ten minutes so pages load quickly | Until 48 hours after uninstall |
| Support messages the merchant sends, with any screenshots, the store name, plan, app version and browser | To answer the request | 90 days from the day they are sent, or 48 hours after uninstall, whichever comes first. Screenshots are deleted with the message. |
Printed documents are generated on request and are not kept. PDF files are created in temporary storage and deleted as soon as they are sent to the browser.
03Customer data
Customer names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers appear on invoices, packing slips, shipping labels and gift receipts because that is what those documents are for. Screenshots a merchant attaches to a support request may also show customer details; those are kept for at most 90 days, as described above. The app does not store them, build profiles, or use them for anything other than rendering the document the merchant asked for.
05Security
All traffic between the browser, Shopify and the app uses HTTPS. Requests from the app's pages are authenticated with Shopify session tokens. Webhooks from Shopify are verified with a signature before they are trusted.
06Uninstalling
When the app is uninstalled, the access token is deleted immediately. Shopify sends a redaction request 48 hours later, and the app then deletes everything else it holds for that store. Shopify's customer data requests and redaction requests are honoured in the same way.
07Contact
Questions about this policy, or requests to see or delete data, can be sent from the Support page inside the app, or by email to the address shown on the app's Shopify App Store listing.
